Hi there!

Thanks for submitting your project for the Young ChangeMakers (YCM) Grant. I’m Zhang Quan, a panellist in YCM, and my group will be handling your project application at this stage.

As our secretariat has mentioned in the email to you, we would like to invite you to our panel meeting to both present your project and answer any remaining questions that our panellists have regarding your project. This is because the panel has agreed that we have to make a few further clarifications regarding your project with you before we will able to come to a decision on it.

Just to explain the powerpoint slide template our secretariat has sent you a little: Under “Community Element”, please include details on project outreach such as how your project will benefit the community and its importance. Under “Youth Element”, please include details on youth involvement, ie, how will youths be involved in the project (planning/implementation etc) or be engaged. Finally, feel free to also expand the budget section to include more details of your budget as needed.

Below are the main concerns that the panel has regarding your project, Play For Paws. Please do address / include clarifications to them in your presentation.
1. How is the project progress so far?
2. Can tickets be priced higher to raise more funds? (right now they’re priced at $1 according to budget) Also, have you tried to get sponsorship, eg for equipment and venues?
3. What publicity and outreach efforts have been made?
4. A little more details of the concert – eg will it have a theme of dogs, and what else will be going on during the event (exhibits, fundraising stalls?)

It’ll be great if you can send me your slides before you send the final version to our secretariat so that I can take a look through it to see if you have missed anything out.

Finally, please feel free to email or sms me if you have any questions or concerns (: thank you!

Best Regards,
Zhang Quan

Dog run and stage at FuShan Garden

Pre-Event

- Fund-raising

è Only dry food such as cereals, candies, biscuits, cookies, etc

è Wet food such as muffins, cakes etc are not allowed

- 24 (peppermint, dbl chocolate) cookies at $10, selling at $1.

- Preferably consider other items with lower cost price and something that is less troublesome

- Venue (RP)

è Agora, get approval from estate

è Car Park, get approval from estate

- Just a car wash event doesn’t tie in with the event idea.

- Dog wash

è Get sponsors for the things for a dog wash?

è Venue for the dog wash?

è Inconvenience for some dog owners?

- Car wash with some dog discounts

è Sponsors from some pet shops

è Partners with pet shops (marketing for them)

è 50-50 with pet shops (they sell their products but share profit with us)

- Set our targets for amount raised and people coming

- Target people with dogs (eg, the American school, maids that do dog-walk)

- Target people looking for avenue to market their online shops and products

- Think of possible ways that we “hook-in” possible sponsors.

è Time= money

è No free lunch in the world

- How can we attract potential customers for the carwash?!

Event Day

- Asking the dog obedience trainers to come down

- Free package? What will the trainers receive?

- Besides publicity, what we offer them?

- What benefits will the trainer get?

è Marketing

è Good will

è Partnerships?

- Problems

è Tentage ( if it rains, where will everyone go? No much shelters)

è Sakura restaurant ( a dog event opposite a HALAL food restaurant) & (cant possibly when it rains, the dogs and owners take shelter there)

è Dog poo ( dirty the place where patrons go for food)

THINGS WE NEED TO COMPLETE FAST

- VENUE, PRE-EVENT, SPONSORS (PUBLICITY & EVENT)

- Agora may not be, is carpark available!?

- Fund-raising, letter of sponsorship (we can write in to Estates to aid in venue)

- License

- Ticket design and poster design

- CONFIRMING EVENT!

MORE THINGS WE NEED TO DO.

- Create a checklist for the event (what we did, what we haven’t do and what we need to do)

- Blog incorporated in report ( materials to be provided by 3 members)

- Sent Zul meeting minutes, weblog link, signed contracts by tenant

- List down items needed for both pre-event and event itself

- Produce an equipment list

- Finalised programme list and contract forms

- Create checklist for easy browsing.

- Inform the facilitators the date the of the event

Problems

- Communication

- Availability NEED TO BE CONFIRMED!

- Ideas
